The Ghana Education Learning Space
is a community of education stakeholders dedicated to improving learning outcomes for children and young people across Ghana. We do this by recognising the value of sharing, the critical importance of evidence and the benefit of collaboration.
Our mission is to
- Work more collaboratively with both government and non-state actors to improve learning.
- Have a clearer picture of what works and what doesn’t work.
- Use evidence more effectively to inform decisions and to drive systems change.
- Run more effective, sustainable projects.
- Be more coordinated in our actions and efforts across the learning ecosystem.
- Support the scalability of practice and research.
- Work together to drive positive system change in Ghana.
We have a particular focus on addressing the need of learners from early childhood to upper primary.
WHAT WE DO
We are an informal network rooted in the belief that we improve learning through a better use of evidence and a deeper understanding of what works. We operate through meetings and learning sessions and focus on the following:
Learning
We explore new ideas, models and techniques, using and gathering evidence, solving problems and building collective knowledge.
Connecting
We are building a community of shared purpose, creating new relationships, generating trust and establishing a powerful living network of voices.
Collaborating
Through the connections we are building, we create the space for collaboration and partnership, exploring new evidence collectively.
Sharing
We tell stories of the projects and initiatives we work on with honesty and openness, hearing new voices and building a picture of what really works.
HOW WE DO IT
The operation of the Ghana Education Learning Space is through
- a series of short meetings and workshops (learning sessions).
- held online or face-to-face (or in hybrid mode).
- happening monthly/bi-monthly.
- covering specific areas of learning and themes relevant to the group.
- including a range of voices and approaches depending on the theme addressed.
- longer group meetings, held periodically (every quarter), to bring the group together for broader networking and sharing.
The meetings and learning sessions are run with a focus on three core purpose elements:
Structured learning for participants.
Understanding key concepts.
Building evidence capacity.
